Andrew Henderson – Owner/Managing Principal

Andrew is the Chief Executive and Founder of Phoenix Consulting. Since 1997 Andrew had been predominantly involved in Project Management and Business Development. He commenced Phoenix in 2002.

He has managed projects or run project offices for many major corporations, in UK, Asia and Australia and New Zealand.

His specialization is Project Management, Solutions Design and large scale systems and process implementations. His industry experience covers financial services, gaming, telecommunications and public sector.

Andrew has a Diploma in Equity Markets, Master of Science in Information Technology and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Senior Fellow of FINSIA.

Hayden Kelly – Owner/Principal – Productivity

Hayden is an equity Partner and a Principal in Phoenix Consulting. Previously Hayden spent 33 years in the telecommunications industry where he held a number of executive positions across a wide variety of disciplines.

Hayden has an unparalleled track record of achievement in change through strategic thinking and implementation of business efficiency, resulting in real business savings and fundamental improvements in business performance. He has had responsibility for workforces of up to 5,000 people and his specialist areas include:

Procurement
Hayden implemented strategic procurement in Telstra and in his time at Phoenix has managed procurement programs in a number of industry sectors, typically delivering measured savings in the order of 10-15%.

Fleet / Logistics
Hayden has managed fleets of up to 20,000 vehicles and delivered up to 30% in reduced operating costs and has delivered outsourcing of a national logistics function with a net 15% cost reduction.

Mergers and Acquisitions
During his time at Phoenix, Hayden has led post M&A synergy delivery for two ($200m plus) acquisitions. In both cases, projected financial outcomes were exceeded and measured within a 90 day time frame.

Process Improvement
Hayden has delivered at Telstra and Phoenix, significant redesign and implementation of end to end business processes in both front of house and back of house, resulting in expense reduction and/or revenue improvement.

Anthony Rix – Principal

Anthony is the Sydney Principal for Phoenix. Prior to his role with Phoenix, he was the Managing Director of Mercury Group Consulting, before which he spent 22 years in the Telecommunications industry, where he held various leadership and executive roles and had responsibility for workforces up to 4,000 staff. His specialist areas include:

Anthony’s strategic mind has been central to adjusting the structure in many of the organisations with which he has been involved to meet the changing needs of their respective market places. He has vast experience in leading national groups over the past 25 years.
Organisational Design & Effectiveness
Anthony has been responsible for the implementation of a number of transformational programs where he designed multi-faceted business improvement programs based on comprehensive organizational reviews, identifying factors impeding business success.

With the central aim to develop the organisation’s leadership and people management capabilities to meet the increasing competitive market dynamics of operating environments.

Change Management
Anthony has led many successful projects implementing effective large-scale organisational change. In all of these projects, a key success factor has been Anthony’s involvement in the management of this change including performance frameworks and communication strategies.

Tony Morgan – Principal

Tony is a Melbourne based Principal of Phoenix and practice lead for Strategic Leadership . His career has involved responsibilities in the fields of IT Strategic Leadership, IT Organisation Change Management, IT Delivery, IT Security & Risk Management, Outsourcing, Contract Negotiation, Contract Management, IT Operations and IT Performance Improvement. His experience in IT extends over 34 years predominately in the Telecommunication sector and including exposure to the Energy, Manufacturing and small business sectors. He has a passion for aligning technology and business considerations to deliver bottom line benefits to organizations.

He is adept at leading organisations through incessant change and understands the impact of human factors in the change process.

He has led organisations which have implemented many major projects and is knowledgeable of the necessary arrangements for project governance, business change management, business readiness, business absorbability and KPI’s for project success.

Tony has developed a process and templates for understanding the state of IT in an acquisition target organisation and has led the integration of IT of merged entities.

Tonys’ portfolio of responsibilities whilst at Telstra gave him an excellent understanding of the governance, audit and compliance arenas and the negative implications of poor processes, structure and compliance can have for SOX, CLERP9, NPP, etc.

He has extensive experience in working with IT and BPO outsource providers, both during the negotiation and transition phases and during business as usual operation.

Simon Greig – Principal

Simon is one of the two anchor Principals of Phoenix, starting the Canberra practice in February 2003.  Simon has a background in the consumer payments domain, working with Westpac, HSBC (London and Hong Kong), Visa International (Sydney and Singapore) and Chase.

Simon has operated businesses with over 700 personnel on the team and revenues over $.5B.

The Australian Federal Government has requested Simon to provide assistance in matters of Project delivery, Risk Management assessment and training and various procurement objectives.  Other assignments have been associated with the payments business, product development and launch, operating costs reduction and most latterly an Australian first, whereby 250 financial institutions worked collectively to deliver a new service to 20mill cardholders across the country – Simon dealt with the PMO for this industry initiative as well as being the industry spokesman for media.

Harvey Merrigan

Harvey is an Associate Principal within the Productivity & Procurement arm of Phoenix Consulting. Prior to joining Phoenix he had extensive experience in the Telecommunications industry, including leadership and executive roles in managing large scale operational and service delivery functions. Other executive roles included strategic planning, productivity improvement and delivery of transformation programs.

Harvey ’s areas of expertise include:

Strategic Procurement Highly experienced in the design and delivery of Procurement initiatives aimed at substantially improving spend effectiveness, quality and benefit optimisation across the end-to-end sourcing/category management lifecycle.

Productivity/Cost Out – Harvey has led major Productivity/Cost Out programs, utilising a wide range of methodologies (Six Sigma, Outsourcing, Shared Services, Organisational Design) to deliver significant and sustainable bottom line savings.

Process Re-design Strong knowledge and capability in identifying opportunities to deliver benefits (cost reduction, faster to market, improved customer service) through re-design of e2e business processes.

Communication & Change Management – Harvey has a full understanding of the need for effective communication and change management strategies in the delivery of improvement initiatives. His experience spans targeted operation change to large scale enterprise wide transformational programs

Michael Ryan

Michael joined Phoenix in 2008 as Principal – Technical Services. Prior to his role with Phoenix he had an extensive career in IT including successfully launching an internal collaboration software application globally, as well as running the Victorian office of a large Asia Pacific Digital Media company specialising in web development, software integration and bespoke application development.

Michael has a demonstrated track record of success whilst ensuring the best results for our clients without compromising quality.

Michael’s role within Phoenix and previous employers has given him an excellent understanding of internal business processes, collaboration requirements, knowledge management and vendor management.
